Effective Committees in a LO LO26314

I received this inquiry from a large US non-profit...

>Becoming a better learning organizations is currently a major focus in
>our organization. This leads to a specific question. We are trying to
>improve the functioning of our committees. Can you refer us to other
>national organizations that are good models of learning organizations
>which we can call to inquire about their committee structures?

Any comments about effective committees in a non-profit context? I believe
the committees would include both paid staff and member/volunteers.
