Mission vs. Vision LO26833

I would submit that vision is about opportunities. Mission is the
organization's purpose. In a Learning Organization (which I would submit is
an organic model, not a mechanical one), neither can be contained in a
"statement." In a Learning Organization, they are "alive." They live and
grow through constant reflection and dialogue throughout the organization.
In addition, I would submit that, as suggested by the authors of "Built
to Last," a Learning Organization needs Core Values, as well as Core
Purpose. Together they form the organization's "Character." Without
character, the organization cannot live.
