Dear Learners,
"We may congratulate ourselves that this cruel war is nearing its end. It has
cost a vast amount of treasure and blood. It has indeed been a trying hour
for the Republic; but I see in the near future a crisis approaching that
unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a
result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption
in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavour
to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all
wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at
this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even
in the midst of war. God grant that my suspicions may prove groundless."
Abraham Lincoln
I was going to offer a prize worthy of the answer to the question, "Who wrote
those words?' but you know;-) I got an anxious feeling deep inside that
no-one would bother.
Once, the neighbour of Jefferson said, " -the day will come when our republic
will come to impossibility because its wealth will be concentrated in the
hands of the few." And he continued..." When that day comes we must rely on
the best elements in the country to readjust the laws of the nation to the
changed conditions."
Whiz bang wallop!!!! The entire float of shares that can publicly change
hands does so every eight days for Yahoo! Priceline.com every four days.
Don't worry, Dell Computers are stable at 3.7 months.;-)
Love,
