Greetings Roger,
Many companies all over the world which went too deep in dealings with
Enron, will now collapse self. Perhaps the demise of Enron is a scandal,
but the ripple effect it will have on other companies cannot be a scandal
too.
Here in South Africa one of our biggest corporations last year was lucky
to get out of a sour partnership with Enron. I think that should have this
partnership lasted, this would have caused immense sufferings in South
Africa and its neighbouring countries. Unemployment which is sky high
would have shot up even higher.
Tragedy has far too many faces.
Contencious workers losing their jobs.
Thrifty investors losing all their savings.
Innocent bystanders losing their lives.
Eager pupils losing their imagination.
Free people losing their self-respect.
Why all this increasing poverty, hunger, disease and homocide on earth? Is
it because these people did it to themselves? Or is it caused by sorcery?
No, it points to societies collapsing because of having to take too much
strain. The more the greed of some people, the more this strain.
Scandal also has too many faces.
Greedy profiteers have become role models.
Dishonest opportunists have become leaders.
Confidence tricksters have become executives.
I think that the Greek word "skandalon" from which the word scandal had
been derived, tells us much. Skandalon means snare. A snare is set up to
catch an unsuspecting prey. The prey gets fooled by camouflaging the
snare. The scandal of scandals? Since WWII education has been used
increasingly to camouflage the scandals of societies.
I firmly believe that people can avoid poverty, hunger, disease and
homocide through personal knowledge. This personal knowledge is the whole
of continuous authentic learning. So when poverty, hunger, disease and
homocide strike out at people, it is because of an educational system
which has become worthless by trying to copy those who strain society with
their greed.
With care and best wishes
