Thankyou for your question. It helped me focus on the balance required
between reflection and action as we make our musings on this list. We
constantly need our rich experiences of life to ground and renew our
theories. This LO list is a supportive and resourceful environment to
reflect on what you learn and to listen to others doing the same.

One way you may use the theory of learning with your three staff and
yourself is as follows:

Whenever a critical incident occurs in your family business meet (on an
equal, authentic, friendly and curious basis) with all of your staff and
allow each person to participate in a dialogue about the following
subjects for about 20-30mins

1. What did you expect to happen?
2. What actually happened?
3. How would you explain the difference?
4. What did you learn?

A critical incident is any event where something significant happens that
you or your staff didn't expect.

If you learn to do this with respect, openness with each other and a
willingness to improve by tackling the difficult or embarrassing aspects
of the conversation, you are starting to be what the theory describes as a
Learning Organisation. You will know you have the opportunity to learn (or
change) if you feel uncomfortable in parts of the process but get support
from each other to continue because it adds some value to each other.
