I have found http://www.dictionary.com to be a good resource. I like it
because it gives you definitions from multiple dictionaries, and usually
-- but not always -- has good etymological information. It also has a
decent thesaurus.
Since I'm almost always at a computer connected to the Internet, I have
found this to be a much more practical than a printed dictionary.
