Dear All
I am writing from Bangkok. I am working in a university of technology
KMUTT. I have been reading many of your views expressed in this forum by
friends for the last few months and I found those views as very educative
and stimulating. Many a thanks to all the contributors.
My university has decided to find new directions by changing its emphasis
from a teaching university (a conventional sense) to a learning university
by giving due emphasis and preference to constructivism. This proposed
change looks very interesting. It is a very attractive proposition, but
the amount of tasks and actions that are required for this are very
demanding, complex and dynamic. The problems are special as these would
require us to develop appropriate understanding and then find appropriate
leverage of change especially for transforming the mental models and then
to use these mental models as a resource for shared vision and team
learning. It looks a Herculean task. If any person / group is working in
the area of ‘transforming a univeristy or institution of technology’ in
any of the developing countries, then I will like to seek help by knowing
more and more about those experiences.
Again thanks; and sorry if I am indulging too much.
Regards
B.K.Passi
