CALL FOR PAPERS
VI International Workshop on
Learning Software Organizations
(LSO 2004)
June 21, 2004, Banff, Alberta, Canada
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Up-to-date information on the workshop can be found at

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Continuing the success of the LSO Workshop series since 1999, this
workshop will provide a communication forum that brings together
academia and industry to discuss the advancements and to address the
questions of continuous learning in software-intensive organizations.
Building upon existing work on knowledge management and organizational
learning, the workshop promotes interdisciplinary approaches from
computer science and information systems, business, management and
organization science as well as cognitive science.
The focus of this workshop will be on practical applications of
learning organization approaches. In economically difficult times such
as today, it is important that knowledge management initiatives in
software organizations are lightweight (i.e. do not put considerable
additional burden on developers and end users), and allow for an
incremental adoption, i.e. do not require large up-front investment
before any return of investment is at least visible. Companies will
not be willing to invest resources in any experience repository that
is in danger of becoming an "experience cemetery".
Fifteen years after Basili first introduced the Experience Factory
concept, this workshop invites researchers and practitioners to report
on the current state of knowledge management practice in software
organizations, share successes and failures, and discuss promising new
ideas and approaches that enable organizations to systematically
profit from past experience and/or general knowledge available to the
organization.
