Do you have measurement tools LO30969

Dear Catherine,

I know of two measurement instruments that might be helpful. I
haven't lined them up side-by-side to see which I like better, nor can
I speak to what the pros and cons are of each in terms of validity,
ease of use, etc. -- perhaps if you look into these questions, you
could let the Learning Org community know what you conclude?

One is the "Readiness for Organizational Learning" (ROLE) instrument
developed by Hallie Preskill and Rosalie Torres. I have an electronic
copy of the ROLE instrument, but it would probably be most appropriate
if you contacted Dr. Preskill directly for permission in case you
decide to use it. Her email is hpreskil@unm.edu . I think she keeps
an eye on this forum, so she may also respond directly.

The other is the "Dimensions of the Learning Organization
Questionnaire" (DLOQ) developed by Victoria Marsick, Karen Watkins and
others, available on the website of "Partners for Learning"
(http://www.partnersforlearning.com/instructions.html). There is a
recent issue of the journal Advances in Developing Human Resources
(volume 5, #2, 2003) that discusses the DLOQ, if you want more
information. The journal issue and relevant articles are available
for free at the following URL:
http://ariel.ingentaselect.com/vl=2252198/cl=66/nw=1/rpsv/ij/sage/15234223/v
5n2/contp1-1.htm (you have to register to get access, courtesy of Sage
Publications' free trial service through the end of March). See
especially the article by Marsick & Watkins, "Demonstrating the value
of an organization's learning culture," as well as articles by
Ellinger et al., O'Neill, and Yang.

Good luck!

Warm regards,
