Rick, I'm going to take advantage of your note as well
-- and mention my own new book:

Who Really Matters
The Core Group Theory of Power, Privilege and Success
by Art Kleiner
2003, New York: Doubleday/Currency.

The basic idea is that organizations are primarily driven by the
perceived needs and interests of some core group of key people -- and
that if you don't understand the dynamics of that particular core
group, most efforts to help the organization develop (or learn) will
probably backfire.

There's more about it on my website: http://www.artkleiner.com.

Many thanks, ArtK

[Host's Note: For any of you who do not know Art Kleiner's writing, I
think he's one of the outstanding business writers practicing today.
I highly recommend his _Age of Heretics_ and I'm going to buy this new
one right away myself. .. Rick]
