Hubbard's "study technology" is based on the notion that all failures to
learn are the result of people misunderstanding individual words. The
"learner" in one of his programs is taught to immediately look up a word
he doesn't understand in the dictionary, even before finishing reading the
sentence the word appeared in. Apparently there's also a bunch of
exercises involving the use of modelling clay to "demo" unfamiliar
concepts.

Applied Scholastics is part of the corporate structure of the Church of
Scientology, an organization that has long been known for making
misleading claims about its activities (for example, various Scientology
entities have repeatedly claimed that Hubbard's "study technology" was
used to teach two million illiterate South African children to read.
South African education officials have been unable to find any record of
this).

"Hubbard Management Technology" programs developed by another Scientology
subsidiary.
