Folks:

Dana and James Robinson wrote anexcellent book onPerformance Improvement
entitled, "Performance Consulting." They provide an excellentPI map.

PI is an intervention. It has limitations to specific instances and
measures. It is a tool. But like most tools that can be adapted to
perform other task than expected based on original design, a basic
framework, model, or paradigm with adaptations for specific use will yield
farmore impressive results while reducing waste of resources and time.

I believe the Chinese Civil Service of 2500 B.C. created the first
performance improvement tools. This was converted into job descriptions
and performance evaluation tools. Now, if PI seems new, this may provide
a new dimension to explore. That is, PI most likely has been around since
work was work and play was different.

PI is the measured difference and ensuing intervention between where one
is and where one wants to be.
