BEAT THE BOSS

The perfect way to introduce business dynamics in a competitive team
learning environment. This is the new breed of fully contained
simulations, which means you are free to facilitate learning and not
continually manage the simulation. The program will also advise and tutor
participants as they journey through the simulation dramatically
accelerating the learning, giving confidence to the learner and extra
technical support to you the trainer. In teams of four to six members,
participants endeavour to keep the company alive for five years, maximise
their true profits and "Beat The Boss."

The Bosses plan is displayed on screen throughout the simulation, enabling
teams to quickly come to terms with the required decision making and
monitor their performance against the bosses. One of the many powerful
learning points of this simulation is the skill to recognise quickly when
a right decision is turning out to be wrong and having the courage and
reflective skills to do something about it.

Production Scheduling, Manpower Planning, Cash Management Profitability
Analysis and Teamwork

MAPPERLY

Teams manage Mapperly Ltd, which competes directly with another company
simulated by the computer. Both companies manufacture and sell two
variations of the same basic product and their competitive decisions
effect each other's performance throughout the simulation. Mapperly is a
simulation of an actual consumer durable market. Market share is
determined by a complex set of relationships involving price, price
differentials, advertising, cumulative advertising, market research etc.

Timing - 6 HOURS
Hardware: IBM PC or compatible with printer

BUSINESS SIMULATOR

Provides users with years of business experience by running a simulated
company. As the CEO of a start-up consumer products business with
#500,000 of venture capital, teams are challenged to build and manage a
firm over twenty-five simulated years. Each team enters the world of
fierce competition, continuous change and high finance, gaining valuable
insight into every phase of a company's development.

Start-up - Growth - Independence - New product development - Expansion.
As the simulated company grows, teams make increasingly complex decisions
involving marketing, product development, production, factory capacity,
R&D, and finance.
Learning Objectives:
Understand business terminology and concepts.
How to analyse financial and market data.
Implement business plans,
Understand how operating decisions affect organisational performance.
Communicate more effectively across functional business areas.
Realise that change is continuous and impacts on all business functions.
If you are in business to make a profit and stay competitive you have
to ride the natural wave of change.
The programme progresses through five different levels of corporate
growth over a 25-year simulated period. Each year teams make decisions
on how to run the business. If they grow the company successfully,
they will advance to increasingly complex levels in the simulation.
Conversely, poor strategic and tactical decisions will ultimately
bankrupt the company and lead to the team being "Let Go".
However, in Business Simulator, you can't "lose" the idea is to learn
and understand, so if a team does go under simply start another session
and let them figure out what went wrong last time!

The Learning Concepts
Each level of the simulation adds to the teams understanding of business
and challenges their expertise in a new way by adding new decisions
and complexity.

and the components involved in strategic business decision-making,
finance and change management.
