Replying to LO14933 --

Winfried wants to know if anyone has any system diagrams of common family
situations (or, I believe his words were "conflicts").

A few months ago the person I reported to was working on his MBA. He took
a class on Learning Organizations (based on the Fifth Discipline) and came
to talk to me about Systems Thinking. He knew my passion for the five
disciplines, and thought we might be able to have a good conversation.

He brought up the family as a learning organization and wanted to know
what I thought. We discussed a few things I had tried, but to no avail. We
then started talking about common situations, such as children's bedtime,
husband/wife dating, schedule conflicts (especially with children in piano
lessons, soccer, ballet lessons, etc.). And we started to make a few
diagrams. He kept them, so I don't have them, but it was definitely a fun
and insightful conversation.

I came out of it with a new invention, that will solve the bedtime
problems of families around the world: Velcro sheets and fuzzy pajamas!
When the kids go to bed, they stay in bed!

For what it's worth. . .

[Host's Note: A hearty welcome back to Ben! We've missed you! ...Rick]
