Replying to LO16733 --

Richard Goodale has hit on the really important point about ranking, which
is what to do with the superb performers. Managers will feel threatened
by the superb performers. These are the people that will pass us by, no
matter how good we are. These are the people that will drive the success
of the organization in the next generation, and these are the people who,
because they are threatening, may not get the recognition they deserve.
Even worse, they may not get hired because the hiring manager perceives
them to be threatening.
