Thanks for passing on some of Alfie Kohn's thoughts. I regret to say
that, hard as I may try, I find it extremely difficult to learn from
someone who holds beliefs such as "Suspicion, envy, and hostility are the
predictable results of any competition." I just can't tweak my own
mentals models hard enough to have them adapt to statements which are
completely antithetical to my own experience, to all that I observe in the
world and to what I believe to be common sense. Alfie'll have to try
harder if he wants me to consider reading his book.
