Replying to LO19156 --

Sherri Malouf sent a message that started:

>Tony is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood
and
>always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he
>was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!" He
>was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him
>around from restaurantto restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Tony
>was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee
>was having a bad day, Tony was there telling the employee how to look on
>the positive side of the situation.

I think this was sent to the list before, since I have a similar story
posted on my cell (cubicle?) wall, except the name is Jerry, not Tony, and
the attribution was "By Francie Baltazar-Schwartz". It is a good
motivational parable, though.

[Host's Note: One of the things I try to do as host is to avoid
distributing anything to this list twice. Sorry if I let this one slip
through. ...Rick]

In a political world analysts often need to marshal not only information
and data but also support. They are coalition builders as well as
information accumulators. . . Criticism is requisite to objectivity;
detachment is not. Objective and solid analysis may help persuade
potential coalition members; detachment may simply produce irrelevance.
