Responding to Thomas Petzinger's comments on the written word, I know that
even before I left the Air Force in 1992 there was already some
improvement from a clear writing initiative begun in the late 70's. While
this snail's pace might seem underwhelming to some, remember that this is
the same Air Force that takes only twenty years to create a greedy retiree
out of a perfectly good civilian.
Seriously though, perhaps the many government initiatives to improve
writing in the past few years have had a trickle-down effect on the
business community. I suspect there are several large volumes of
information available on the subject ;).
