One of the "fall outs" of any merger seems to be staff number reductions.
This will present at least two problems: to those made redudant .. where
to get a job; to those who are left .. how to cope with the loss of
friends and colleagues. The term "Survivor's Syndrome" has been used in
the UK. (And I have found very little in the HR et al journals about
this).

An excellent pair of articles are in Business Change & Re-engineering, Vo1
1; No.4 (spring 1994) entitled "Poles apart? Integrating BPR and HRM" by
Jim Horsted and Noeleen Doherty and Vol 3; No.1 (Jan 1996) entitled
"Re-engineering people -- the forgotten survivors" by N Doherty. The
journals are published by Wiley.

Two excellent articles.
