Replying to LO20807 --

Tony diBella takes me to task.

Okay, Tony, you're right -- I sounded too negative about anthropology. I
did not mean to denigrate it as a discipline; it has its own purposes and,
for those, I presume it is successful and that there are many people doing
wonderful work. And lessons have been learned that can be applied, even
by me in my work.

I merely pointed out, and stand by it, that for my purposes (and those of
my clients) -- viz. CREATING change in organizations -- the methodologies
of anthropology are not very useful. Those methods have quite different
purposes than mine and they're not very compatible with what I'm trying to
do. In fact, they can be deleterious by wasting time and effort.
