Replying to LO21519 --

Rick,

I have had the opportunity to experience the wonderful campus atmosphere
at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, though only a few times as a
visitor. It seemed to me to be very conducive to the learning process.

Also, Sally Helgesen's book (Web of Inclusion) contained some very
perceptive ideas, I thought, that might be of use and interest.

Helgesen's description of the hearth and the hub are what I saw at
Microsoft...the opportunity for people to meet and problem-solve not just
in their cubicles, but in the cafeteria's which are at the center of the
buildings I was in, is a wonderful idea. I saw numerous people engaged in
deep conversations, and my impression was that they were engaged in
creating solutions and products.

regards,

Doc
