Replying to LO21594 --

I'm going to be very direct in answering Steven Malamud's questions. He
asked:

> * Do vision and values statements belong on a corporate web site and why?

Sure they do. A web site is just another means of communication, and
vision and values are things to be communicated (both to internal people
and to other stakeholders.)

But -- hold on just a minute, please !!! The question you didn't ask has
a very different answer:

Should the vision and value statements we have be posted on the web site?

NO! Why? Because they aren't vision and value statements. As you
admitted,

>we have created a mission, vision, and values statement. It was created by
>a small committee of people, including our CEO. Others were asked to
>participate in the process, but did not respond.

Therefore, I submit, you do not have a mission, nor vision, nor values
statement for your firm. You have a small group's suggestion for what
these statements could be, but you don't have any corporate statements.
They have not been built by "the corporation," they have not even been
endorsed by "the corporation," they may not even have been seen by "the
corporation", so they have no business being communicated (to anyone) as
corporate mission, vision, or values statements.

Is that direct enough? I hope I'm being helpful even though, I'm sure you
can tell, I feel pretty strongly about this.
