One of the most popular pages on our website (1,200 hits/day) is our
Measurement Examples Page (http://www.zigonperf.com/examples.htm) where
visitors can browse and search through sets of example performance goals
for 70 different job families.
My 21 years experience developing these kinds of goals, and teaching
others to create them for themselves, has led me to conclude that examples
are the cheapest, quickest and most effective way to help managers and
employees create good quality performance measures. And objective
performance goals lead to higher employee performance and productivity.
A recent consulting engagement led me to create an INTRANET application
which allowed managers and employees to search 75 sets of company-specific
performance measures to help them create measures for their own or their
employees' jobs. This internal website was huge hit with both managers and
employees. They reported that it made it much easier for them to create
more objective performance goals for their work.
ZPG yesterday released a second-generation, INTERNET-based performance
measure database with 7,000+ measurement ideas available for use by anyone
in the world. It's called QuickMeasures(tm).
