Replying to LO23532 --

Sandy

I felt hurt by the projection of your framework onto my community work.
In the UK, trustees of charities are not allowed to benefit financially
from their work as a trustee.

You seemed to have missed the main point I was trying to make. The motive
was of sustainability ( or Learning Organisation, if you prefer ) not
financial profit. Good financial management (no wizardry) is merely one
of the tools to help achieve a sustainable organisation.

I am pleased that you have found in the scouting movement something that
does not fit your profit orientated framework. Perhaps I could leave you
with a thought from George Soros, one of the 20th centuries most
successful financiers. "Economic theories based upon the uninhibited
pursuit of self interest have replaced communism as the enemy of the open
society".
