Have been following the posts in this thread with considerable interest.
Here is a recent bibliographic comparison of LO vs. KM concepts (table 1)
that may help to shed some light. "Knowledge management and the

Seems LO is more closely associated with training, OD, HR and management
development, while KM connects with IT, intellectual capital, IS then
training. From my perspective KM does not pay sufficient or adequate
attention to learning, meaning, distinctions and collaboration. I would
endorse views that Km tends to be object focused and is sadly more
concerned with marketing intangibles than creating new insights.

I get the feeling that we will see a progressive shift in KM to cultural
issues including conditions for learning, creativity and awareness, as
companies become comfortable with their IT architectures and seek to
leverage their investments in collaborative tools.
