Hi Bill,

I am using the People CMM for the determination of the quality of the HR
processes in the organization. This model is a part of an instrument
called the Strategic Alignment Model (SAM). This model is derived from the
one described by Venkatramen and henderson in their article of 1990. In
order to change the level of quality of your HR processes you first have
to analyze if they are aligned to the strategic objectives of the
organization now and for the near future.

After the analysis of SAM and P-CMM I use Gartners Total Costs of
Ownership (TCO) to calculate tthe costs and benefits that will be the
result of the CMM in order to provide a business case for
management/board.

To tell you the truth: most of the times HR is not aligned
(suboptimization) and reaches (here in Holland)just level 1
