Dear DP and LO,
DP writes,
" This suggests that there may be something like an 'efficient set of
constraints' to impose on the interactions before starting some collective
enterprise. We may be able to select from several alternative futures of
our enterprise by selecting the constraints we choose to impose from the
beginning. "
just simply leaned over, picked up the nearest book in the semi circle
around me and opened the page at this,
" I say more: the just man justices;
Keeps grace: that keeps all his goings graces;
Acts in God's eye what in God's eye he is-
Christ - for Christ plays in ten thousand places,
Lovely limbs, and lovely in eyes not his
To the Father through the features of men's
faces."
(G.M.Hopkins)
There's a commentary that follows but experience has now taught me that to
write that would lift this place too much from the rut of ordinary life
that it loves so much: so I will say two other things : I saw a very old
horse transfigure into a five year old child in a school playground just
three days ago : I believe that dear Peter Senge underwent;-) something of
a metanoia through the witnessing of the drowning of a struggling man in a
weir.
Love and much appreciation for your wisdom DP,
Andrew
