Individual Competence vs. Organizational Efficiency LO28860

Replying to LO28850 --

I have a problem with your suggestion of pay being split into three levels
in an organisation. I believe most individuals have the same capability
to become competent in any given area, it's all a matter of application.
To give the top third of a company more pay than the rest simply
reinforces the old authoritarian/directive approach to management, the
hierarchies and backside kissing behaviour, endemic in our public and
private com[panies.

We would be better to promote employee share ownership programs to create
incentive, open book management to give workers insight into company
finances, and productivity gain sharing to provide motivation. Except for
this everyone in an organisation should be paid equally. If the peer group
perceives an individual is not performing the group should convene to
dismiss.

How about a bit of honesty in the proceedings? We need ethics now!

Best Regards,
Alan Cotterell
