Dear ANDREW,

The world looks like a perennial source of new observations, some of which
can be linked. The others (i.e., those observations remaining unlinked)
prove to be a perennial challenge to our linking instinct.

This of course does not conflict with images of world as a stage or a
struggle for existence.
