Dear LO'ers, dear At,
This thread became a dialogue which started last year. December 31 seems
to create within the minds of many people a mental break, whereas new
year's eve is just an arbitrarily point in the continuous line of time.
Possibly some readers have forgotten what has been said, but the fabulous
archive of this list could help for some refreshment of the memories.
[Host's Note: And... That archive is at

At, thank you for your latest reply. The water sewage example was a very
illustrative one and the things you have said on the umlomo is worth to
think deeply. Whether an umlomo is as a paper clip, a magnet or a pair of
spectacles to open our eyes is up to the readers.
I think that our dialogue could be resumed as follows. Any organisation is
(partly) defined by a special set of internal relationships, links and
bonds. This set defines the quality of the organisation. But there is
more. The quality and particularly, the survival of an organisation is
also dependend on the relationships, links and bonds with its
surroundings. Although this dialogue seems to focus only on one of the 7
E's (fruitfulness), it encompasses the other six too.
And for a balanced picture of any organisation it is necessary to take
different stand points and perspectives: from within the organisation,
from organisation to the surroundings, from the surroundings to the
organisation and from a distance overviewing both. Whether studying an
organisation as small as a molecule, or as large as a constitution of
states.
I wish you a flexible mind.
