John E. Jones passed away recently. He was the Jones of the Jones &
Pfeiffer publishing enterprise that did so much to advance Organization
Development (OD) for so many years. I had the pleasure of visiting with
John a couple of years ago during a trip to California. I know he posted
to the LO list several times and I seem to recall his posting to the
MG-ED-DV list as well. In any event, all with an interest in
organizations and management are indebted to John for his work. Below is
the text of a message I received notifying me of John's passing:

It is my sad duty to inform you that John died January 2, 2003 of
pneumonia and liver disease. No more laughs for the day. No more goodies.
A great light has passed from this earth and his absence will be felt by
many, but his spirit and his works live on.
A viewing, funeral mass, and reception were held for John on January 8 and
9.
An outdoor memorial gathering is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of
February 8-9 pending reservation of a suitable location. This will be a
time when people can share memories of John. I will send more information
when it is available.
Wishing you good memories,
Colleen Kelley
