My good friend Diane Cory writes about a new book by Adam Kahane.
I've known Adam for some time through the Society for Organizational
Learning; he's terrific and I'm sure the book will be terrific. Note
the endorsement... Adam had a significant role in organizing a
breakthrough meeting in South Africa that contributed to the peaceful
transition.

"Solving Tough Problems: An Open Way of Talking, Listening and
Creating New Realities" by Adam Kahane (with a foreward by Peter
Senge)
A colleague of ours, Adam Kahane, has written a newly published book
from Berrett-Koehler. Daniel and I received a postcard in the mail
with the following information about it.
"This breakthrough book addresses the central challenge of our time:
finding a way to work together to solve the problems we have created."
--Nelson Mandela
"Adam Kahane has worked with leaders of corporations, governments, and
civil society organizations on some of the toughest problems in the
world, including in South Africa, Colombia, Argentina, Guatemala,
Israel, and Northern Ireland. Through these experiences, he has
learned how to create environments that enable creative new ideas and
solutions to emerge even in the most complex and challenging contexts.
Kahane tells his stories and distills from them a 'simple but not
easy' approach that all of us can use to solve our own toughest
problems. Engaging and inspiring, personal and practical, this book
offers us a hopeful way forward: a way of 'open-minded, open-hearted,
open-willed talking and listening' vital for creating profound and
lasting change."
Hardcover, ISBN 1-57675-293-3, Item #52933, $22.95 from Berrett-Koehler.
