Tracey,
There are so many books on leadership today, it runs the risk of becoming
indeciferble. It depends on your audience.
Executives: The Leadership Challenge, Revised Edition, by Jim Kouzes and
Barry Posner, Jossey-Bass, 1995, ISBN 0-7879-0110-5. It has now come out
in paperback, but I do not have the ISBN on it.
Urban Principals: Horace's Compromise: The Dilemma of the American High
School, followed by Horace's School, both by Ted Sizer of Brown Univ. and
The Coalition of Essential Schools. I don't have the publisher info with
me. CES has a web site, and also I don't have that either. One other
recommendation is Moral Leadership: Getting to the Heart of School
Improvement, by Thomas J. Sergiovanni. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass
Publishers, 1992, whose approach is to develop schools as communities. I
don't have the ISBN number for it.
I hope this helps.
