Replying to Roxanne, Scott, et al.

I have to say that I'm glad that my point of view has people thinking.

Scott said
"Guess I really take affront at the "Those who can't, consult."
framework because it stereotypes and thus demeans. "

This hits the nail on the head and makes exactly the same point I have
been trying to make.

We all have worked for good managers, we all have worked for bad
managers. Based on my experience, it is rarely the process that is at
fault, but the implimentation of the process. The process itself
usually only needs some massaging.

The reason I put that sig in after my post was, well, let expand on
part of Scotts post:

>Being internal isn't necessarily best for people.
>Being external isn't necessarily best for people.
some performance reviews work for some people
some performance reviews don't work for others
he sings a song that reminds us of the good times
he sings a song that reminds us of the bad times

My sig is a stereotype, and you can all see it as such.
To indict all performance review systems as bad is also a stereotype.
I hope that you can all see that.

J
