THE OPEN BOOK EXPERIENCE

John Case and Morel Forman

Thursday 14 May at 6pm

in the Great Room,
Royal Society of Arts, 8 John Adam Street, London WC2N 6EZ, UK

(Underground: Charing Cross or Embankment)

`For the last four years my associates have been studying a truly
extraordinary group of companies - companies that are literally
inventing a new way of running a business. These companies range
in size from tiny, family-run shops to divisions of some of the
largest corporations. The approach these companies are developing
has come to be known as "open book management".'

`Open book management isn't a set of techniques for disseminating
information. It's a systematic approach to running a business,
and it involves far-reaching changes."

`You find yourself doing planning and budgeting in a new way. You
have a whole new way of how to do financial reports. People in
conventional companies see themselves as hired hands. People in
open book companies ... see themselves as business people.'

--------------------------

The lecture will be chaired by Sir David Tweedie, chairman of the
UK Accounting Standards Board and is likely to provide much food
for thought for entrepreneurs, general managers and business
leaders who are looking for a more inclusive approach to
information and a more entrepreneurial approach from their
people.

--------------------------

The ticket price of UKP 75 includes a free copy of John Case's
book `The Open Book EXperience'.

--------------------------

Founded in 1996 following the RSA's Tomorrow's Company Inquiry,
the Centre for Tomorrow's Company is a registered charity. The
Centre is a catalyst and think-tank whose aim is to inspire and
enable UK businesses to take an inclusive approach, defining
success in relation to all the stakeholders involved with the
business - customers, employees, suppliers, investors, the local
community and society at large. Such an approach puts people and
all their relationships at the heart of the successful business.
This sounds deceptively simple: in practice, it is a recipe for a
never-ending search for improvement.
