To add a general global comment to this thread: Barry Nalebuff et al
describe in their book "Coopetition" when compete and when to cooperate.
They say that you cooperate to establish/ grow the market and compete to
divide it up. After all, 100% of zero is not very lucrative. You cooperate
to establish standards and then compete to deploy solutions that follow
the standard. It certainly seems that mixed messages from market players
confuse consumers who faced with an unclear choice, postpone purchase.
