Replying to LO18930 --

Richard Webster and others,

We've taken a fairly structured approach to getting organisations moving
down the LO route:

1 Get people to challenge their mental models of "how things are around
here" and about their own potential and that of their colleagues.

2 Once they are more open to the possibilities of what could be, get them
to establish their personal vision of the future. Because this is personal
and they need to be honest with themselves, we encourage them to keep it
confidential. The personal visioning stuff in the Fieldbook is good for
this.

3 As a team, take them through a team visioning process. Encourage them to
consider how this vision can help them towards their personal vision. As
part of this process we introduce them to advocacy and enquiry skills
using a number of exercises. This gives a common language and facilitates
the vision discussion.

4 Having established a clear, MEASURABLE vision, use this as a benchmark
to define current reality.

5 Help them to develop an action plan which will move them from current
reality towards their vision. This needs to address attitudes /
behaviours, skills and processes.

That's just the start. However it creates momentum and provides them with
some pretty quick benefits which both they and their colleagues can
appreciate.
