Andrew:
As usual the foundation of knowledge is built on the blocks laid by
others. I see I am traveling a path you have already explored on an even
larger scope. My so called learning industries note was a test to see if
the idea warranted discussion. I have a degree in International Business
and it seems clear that some governments act to focus the resources and
education of its citizens with specific intent creating your learning
society. Within the American Society there is a large body of evidence to
suggest that the latest business tool is usually applicable to
non-business sectors and greatly influences our society in the short run.
As business succeeds with these new tools and realize value in the
concepts, they adopt new methods to maximize output based on the "tool".
All nonparticipants in these new experiments will respond in some way to
the threat of a newly successful competitor or simply by seeing perceived
value in a new way of doing something and attempt to emulate it. Thus
within a particular industry, the LO forces the industry to respond in
kind or be removed by competition.
Hence the learning industry or learning society. I look forward to reading
your paper.
