Announcing
The UK Strategic Planning Society's Annual Conference 98
The Innovative Enterprise
24-25 November 1998, London

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the Strategic Planning Society's
1998 Annual Conference. Our theme this year is the Innovative Enterprise
The conference is the most important event in our calendar and this year's
event is our biggest ever - reflecting the critical relevance of the issue
to individuals and organisations in both the public and private sectors.

The importance of enterprise-wide innovation has enabled us to assemble a
world class speaker panel of that includes current and future headline
makers in the field of business innovation. These include Tom Stewart of
Fortune Magazine, Alphie Spears of BellSouth, David Norton of Renaissance,
Brian Harder of GE, McKinsey's Mark Maletz, Bob Buckman of Buckman Labs
and Walter Stewart from Royal Bank of Scotland.

We are particularly delighted to have Steve Bee of Scottish Life opening
day 2 of the conference - Steve is rapidly developing a reputation as one
of the most entertaining, informative and unconventional business leaders
and speakers in Europe.

The agenda will examine innovative practice in world class organisations
and explore the latest thinking in key areas of strategic management. The
issues covered will include anticipating the future, boundaryless
innovation, creating a future-ready culture, continuous innovation,
globalisation, knowledge management and innovating at the speed of change.

Among the organisations presenting leading edge case studies, insights,
practical approaches and workshops are speakers from across the business
spectrum. Hence at one end we have small and fast growing innovation led
enterprises such as Fluke Corporation and IDEO and at the other well
established global brands such as 3M, Electrolux, Diageo, The BBC and IBM.
The Impact Programme.

To cater for the differing needs and learning styles of our audience we
have created a structure that enables you to chose in the afternoons
between business presentations, academic perspectives and highly
interactive workshop sessions led by experts drawn from the fields of
business, conflict management and consultancy.

For the latest academic and think tank insights on the innovation
challenge we have assembled four leading professors and commentators -
John Kay, Richard Seurat, Bill Halal and John Aris. For the workshop
sessions we will have three very distinctively different sessions on
themes of using conflict to drive change, encouraging and fostering
innovation and total innovation management.

At the end of the first day there will be the Society's Annual Dinner at
which the speaker will be Mike Jackson who is stepping down as Chief
Executive of Birmingham Midshires Building Society following the
successful announcement of the merger with the Halifax.

This promises to be Europe's leading strategic management event this and
we'd encourage you to reserve you places now for both the conference and
dinner.
