Stafford Beer's Viable System Model tells us that there is more to the
viablity of an organisation than purpose and values. I agree with
Richard's comment that it is important to revisit purpose and value, not
only to check internal alignment but more importantly to check alignment
with the external environment.

For me, there is a question as to the process of setting mission, goals,
and objectives. How should this process be carried out? Should it evolve
some form of democracry and if so who in the organisation should have the
right to be involved?
