LO Colleagues -

Hooray for you Vana Pruitt. What a wonderful idea and gift to us all,
thank you!

And I would add to the "ideal mentor" qualities list:

-- willingness to speak the truth, telling me what I needed to hear, and
-- sense of timing as to when to speak the truth and when to wait a bit
longer (to see if the learning is happening with less direct attention).

Prediction: we'll all have lots higher standards to meet as mentors before
this thread is done.

Best wishes to all "LO'ers," writers and lurkers alike, for much success
and happiness -- at year-end, in the new year(s) too,

Dick Webster

PRMI is a 501(c)3 non-profit research, development and consulting company
founded in 1978. The Institute's R&D projects address the paradigm shift
from "training, instruction, and teaching" to "learning" -- a key change
for creating outstanding companies (and other organizations) with improved
leadership, high involvement, use of information and knowledge, ideas,
processes, and quality; improved capabilities, performance, and
productivity of company members and their teams; with improvements in the
"bottom-line" and other desired results.

Thought: "Things are getting better and better and worse and worse faster
and faster" says Tom Atlee. Challenge: Finding and building the "betters,"
in time. Idea: Try learning -- each person's responsibility and
opportunity.

>As a winter solstice blessing on us all, I'd like to try this experiment
>of listing the qualities of those who have mentored us, with the intent
>that we will remember and demonstrate these qualities during the next
>year.
