Yes, I believe this is true but I have felt for a long time now that
something has been missing from this thread. Over the week-end, I re-read
the book "Seth Speaks". I have had an interest in the concept of
Spirituality in the workplace for some time. Actually, my masters thesis
was "The Integration of Spirtual Principles in Business".
But what has been missing in the thread here I believe has been the
definition of Spirituality. Not being satisfied with the definition found
in The New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, I have searched many other
places for the definition that "feels" right and found it in "Seth
Speaks". It is:
"True spirituality is a thing of joy and of the earth, and has nothing to
do with fake adult dignity. It has nothing to do with long words and
sorrowful faces. It has to do with the dance of consciousness that is
within you, and with the sence of spiritual adventure that is within your
hearts. The vitality of the universe is creativity, joy and love, and
that is spirituality".
Yes, that puts the finger on it for me. So how do we implant creativity,
joy and love in the workplace? I believe it has do be done individual, by
individual seeking their own unique creativity, joy and love and living
it, breathing it day in and day out. It can only be demonstrated it
cannot be transferred to unreceptive people until they are ready to
receive it but.......being around creative, joyous and loving people I
think can create environments that are more creative, joyous and loving.
Dr. Deming talks about "joy in work". There is very little of it as I see
it in the work place today. Where I work now at the local Jr. College as
Department Chair, I do enjoy my work, but the other tenured instructors,
professors do not. They are burned out by the education system. It is
hard to face them each day and I admit it drains me. Therefore it is
important that I have a place to rejuvinate myself. That is by being
around positive, joyous, loving people and by going within, meditating on
that joy, love and peace I find there. Expanding my consciousness to the
more universal consciousness helps a great deal.
I believe as we near the 21st century, there is a growing awareness by
people world wide that we explore the spirtual element but as Dr. Deming
once said, "We don't need to change, survival is not mandatory".
