Two references on some organisational paradoxes (both are text books used
for the Strategic Management unit for MBA students):

MAKRIDAKIS, S.G. (1990). Forecasting, Planning, and
Strategy for the 21st Century, The Free Press, NY.

STACEY, R. D. (1996). Strategic Management and
Organisational Dynamics, Pitman, London.

"Prof. Ralph Stacey" <r.d.stacey@herts.ac.uk> (the author of the second
book) pays particular attention to the contributions of complexity theory
in dealing with the organisational paradoxes. He suggests methods for
creating the required tension between the 'legitimate' and the 'shadow'
systems in organisations to function as a font of creativity, learning,
improvement, etc.
