I have the following experience with the Dance of Change and its value. I
am working with a particular leader within a client system. The leader is
introducing his "vision" to his workgroup that will require substantial
commitment on the part of each person.
In preparation for facilitating a meeting to build commitment for the
vision, I reviewed the Dance of Change. From this review and my
consulting experience I generated 80 questions for the leader to consider
prior to the meeting. Those 80 questions assisted him in preparing for
the meeting.
In particular the leader clearly stated to the group that he was "selling"
not "co-creating" the vision with them. This candor with the group from
the beginning set the tone for further candor from everyone in the meeting
that followed.
