Hello Rick et al,

After an extended absence during which I was so busy that I can't remember
what I was doing, I am returning for more mental stimulation and help from
new challenging issues.

I am an independent consultant who has spent most of her adult life
specializing in employee compensation. A couple of years ago I heard
myself telling several prospective clients "You don't need a new
compensation system, you just need to teach your people how to talk to
each other." My growing conviction that pay systems are relatively
unimportant has caused me to refocus my work to helping organization
dismantle overly complex pay systems, eliminate incentive programs and
replace traditional performance appraisal systems with effective
interpersonal communication.

Although the vast majority of organizations are still clinging to these
damaging crutches, I'm beginning to find some brave companies that are
willing to take the plunge in this direction and am currently busy with
three very exciting assignments. I'd love to hear from people who have
interest or experience in this area.

Looking forward to rejoining the dialogue!

Best regards,

Roxanne
