E-learning abandonment and culture impact research LO30737

Hi all,

Some of you may remember that a few months ago I posted a message asking
for your participation in an online survey on the e-learning abandonment
research.

I sincerely thank those who completed the survey. As a token of
appreciation, we have send out our executive summary to those who
completed the survey and left their email address at the end of the
survey. One of the key findings was that the e-learning dropout rate was
not as high as claimed previously on trade journals and popular press.
And our analysis questioned using dropout rate as a measure of e-learning
success.

At the same time, that study has triggered other research questions we
wish to explore: Are there differences in e-learning behavior due to
different cultural backgrounds of e-learners? If so, how cultural factors
impact on e-learning behavior? To answer those and other related
questions, we're now conducting a separate research "Internet-Based
Learning In the US, Russia, and China: A Cross-Cultural Comparison.' We
have three identical online questionnaires deployed in the three countries
in respective languages. I'm looking for e-learners from these three
countries to participate in this new study. Again, you'll have an option
to receive summary statistics at the end of the survey by entering an
email address. I'm sure many of you are as curious as our research team
to the answer of the the questions. The short survey will take you only
10 minutes to complete. Please access the surveys from the following
links:

U.S. version. http://vawin.jmu.edu/irex/survey.php

China version. http://ecolab.ruc.edu.cn/survey.asp

Russian version: http://rus-research.narod.ru/form.htm

This study is partially funded by International Research and Exchange
Board (IREX.org). Given the limited resource, we're unable to explore
similar issues in all other countries -- apologies for that. So if you're
in a country other than the 3 countries specified, please do NOT respond,
we certainly want to ensure the validity of the study and are able to
track the IP addresses to make sure all responses are from the 3 country.

If you're e-learning/training/HRD managers in the three countries and
willing to be interviewed on the same issue, please send me an email.

There are more questions than answers in the e-learning world. Through
our study, we hope to answer some questions, and anticipate more questions
toward a better understanding of e-learning.

Appologies for cross-posting.

Thank you very much,

Greg
