Replying to LO19327 --

Mike

I am interested in your comparison of trust and knowledge as two parts of
the same, like the wave, particle duality, particularly when it comes to
the term "measure".

The latest issue of Coevolution Quarterly talks about the large issue of
"the commons" but one issue it raises is the issue of "trust". They also
list Fukuyama's book by that title and indicate that there seems to be a
high level of concern with this issue within the corporate world-more so
than in other sectors.

Your juxaposition of the two is both timely and very puzzling to me. I am
not certain that the two are part of a continuum but are perhaps a mixed
wave function- (to use a bad example from physics- I hope Sokal and
Bricmont will forgive this indiscretion)

Is there a set of hidden assumptions here? Knowledge=Truth=Facts--and then
we open up the issues raised by Farber and Sherry in their legal work,
Beyond all Reason. For the corporate world it is the challenge of the
Enlightement vs the Postmodern and now we touch on such pragmatic issues
as multiculturalism and the rest ofthe issues in the HR arena.

Trust<=>Knowledge go from the groundskeeper to the board room and go from
personnel to the laboratory- did someone say y2K...grin...

cheers
